ChatTrail (“the Extension”) helps users organize, enhance, and manage their conversations across supported AI chat platforms (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek, and others) using features like visual timelines, starring chats, prompt utilities, and bulk conversation actions. We value user privacy and are committed to transparency in how data is accessed, processed, and stored.

2. Data Collection and Usage

• Website Content: The Extension reads and modifies supported AI chat website content locally in the user’s browser to display timelines, star indicators, prompt tools, and enable bulk conversation actions. This includes accessing conversation titles, identifiers, and relevant UI elements already present on the page.
• Authorization Tokens: ChatTrail may temporarily access authentication tokens already available in the browser session to perform archive or delete actions initiated by the user. These tokens are used only to execute the requested actions on ChatGPT and are never transmitted to or stored on any external servers.
• Conversation Identifiers: When users select conversations for bulk actions, the corresponding conversation identifiers are temporarily stored in memory to complete the operation. These identifiers are cleared immediately after the action is completed.
• User Prompts and Preferences: If users create or save custom prompts, starred conversations, timeline preferences, or UI settings, this information is stored locally in the browser using extension storage. This data is never transmitted to external servers.

3. Data Storage and Retention

• Local Processing Only: All data processing occurs entirely within the user’s browser using local memory and browser storage.
• Ephemeral Use: Temporary data such as conversation identifiers or session tokens are cleared once the requested action is completed. No long-term storage or retention of user data occurs.

4. Disclosure of Information

• No Third-Party Sharing: ChatTrail does not sell, share, or disclose user data to third parties.
• Legal Requirements: Information will only be disclosed if required to comply with applicable laws or legal processes.

5. Security

ChatTrail is designed so that all operations occur locally within the browser. No user data is transmitted externally. While no system can guarantee absolute security, this design minimizes exposure by keeping all data on the user’s device.

6. Children’s Privacy

ChatTrail is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
